San Luis Obispo & San Diego// Madonna Inn, La Jolla Cove

San Luis Obispo/ Madonna Inn

The Madonna Inn is a groovy time (yep, groovy)! It's frequented by celebrities, retro-lovers, architectural admirers and tourists at any given time of the year and it is almost always booked at least 6 months out for reservations!

The 110 guest rooms are individually designed with a retro theme: i.e. "The Harvard Room" and "Just Heaven" to name a few (seriously, check them out: Madonna Inn Rooms). AND the original interior design developed by the founder's wife remains...hence the pink leather bar stools and ostentatious dining area. The bartender told us how Katy Perry was there just the week before us...maybe one day he will be telling someone how Nia Groce had just stopped by ;-)

San Diego, CA

As we drove from LA towards San Diego, I could feel that we were heading farther south...(work with me here)...imagine that the air got dryer...the land got flatter...and the radio scanned through one Spanish channel after the next.

This was such a cultural and environmental difference from the mountainous lands of Big Sur and Carmel. San Diego had a beauty of its own though...the rocky coves meeting the crystal blue waters and dozens of palm trees lined up along the beaches in the serene little city of La Jolla.
